Apparent Targeted Shooting Marks Bridgeport's Ninth Homicide Of Year

A man who was shot and killed on Tuesday in Bridgeport was apparently targeted, police said.

The city's ninth homicide of the year took place around 7:30 p.m. in front of 73/75 Laurel Ave., said Av Harris, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police Department.

According to police,  an unidentified 30-year-old man was found unresponsive at the scene, shot in the torso and neck. He was transported to St. Vincent's Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Harris said the killing was not a random act of violence and the victim appears to have been targeted.

 The identity of the victim is pending next of kin notification, and confirmation by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
